A well hidden climb on the very east of the island, Ermita de Betlem is the access road to the eponymous monastery high above Colonia St Pere and Betlem. The road climbs gently out of the pretty town of Arta (a great lunch stop) for around 2km before starting to rear up at the final turning for 3.5km to the summit. The surface is decent throughout and the gradient rarely reaches doubles figures. Magnificent views are abound back to Arta and beyond to the South Coast.

However the real joy of the climb isn’t revealed until you reach the summit. A panoramic view of the bays of Alcudia and Pollenca, the Serra Tramuntana mountains and Cap de Formentor reward any climber to reach the top. The monastery itself is 2.5km down from the main summit. The views are spectacular all the way down and the Ermita has a peaceful ambience.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
