This route is multipurpose in length and a variation on a similar route ( MG - south & back) However, it is slightly longer to take in some other cracking lanes and also avoid the Nasty short potholed lane up toward Shotlach hence, we stay on the B road from Worthenbury for another mile and then take in another couple of great lanes to Shotlach.
The really cracking bit of this route is the southern loop below Malpas and takes us down to the lovely short steap bits to cross the river twice at Lower Wych & Higher Wych.
So this route is very specific regarding the southern loop, as it avoids the crappy bumpy lanes.
The only real hilly bit is at Lower Wych & Higher Wych, where we drop down each time to cross the river and climb out, although this clockwise route is easier than the reverse.

The cafe options are Cleopatra’s / Lewis’s at 30 miles, if needed.
This is not a winter route, due to possible flooding, although the lanes are all very good.

This route is ideal for shortening easily and either knocking off 5 or 9 miles by simply cutting across west, through Dog lane, at Oldcastle Heath and either going to Threapwood and right onto the B road ( picking up the route , cuts off 9 miles) or at Threapwood turn left to pick up the route at Sarn and take my favourite bit from the river crossing at Sarn And on to Worthenbury and hence, why I call this route multipurposed.
Dog lane is the only other good lane in this area and very quick ,clockwise, as slightly down hill to Threapwood.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
