2021 01 03 Wet Eridge Follies Night Hike Melanie

We saw the Sham Farm Folly without incident. It was getting pretty sticky for the 2 tower follies. By the time we reached the caves the entrance was not passable so we went in and out of the exit
But it soon became clear that the route to the deer park was just not walkable as the stream had overflowed and the path took up the surplus.
So a quick decision was made to take a footpath to the road and follow that to near the Saxonbury Tower.
It was the right decision and we made it alive to the last bit if woodland in the dark.
Back to really hard walking. It was muddy and also deep surface water in places.
Melanie asked how much further to the tower and to my horror, I had done what I often do and just switched off!
We were well past the tower at this point, but turned back to reach the folly.
The road was our route of choice again for the return leg and we lived to tell the tale of another (fairly) successful night hike!

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
