This is bad weather version of my favourite hilly route with one serious climb up Chapel hill, but also aimed at Westerly wind hence, the route off the ridge is directly south to help on wind and then heads for Bickerton to hide behind Peckforton ridge for wind shelter. It means the route is fairly hilly
The route is a modification on my favourite, as avoids Tilston Ferrell, because it usually floods & doesn’t take us over Bickerton hill, again because it can get very gravelly and messy. But still a great route for wet conditions. Route also cuts out a couple of little bad lanes.

See my main favourite version of 32+ miles that is basically the same in stats , aimed at dry summer conditions. Called MG - ww & fav chapel hill.
There is a longer tougher version as well that does need a Tilly’s stop as the route extends past Bickerton either up over my favourite all time lane in good weather or around it on the parallel lane. Both ways then take in Brown Knowl and why the longer version is so much harder.

Chaple lane (16% peak, but 1.4k long and a gentle incline leading to it from Oshcroft, so this route. It’s deceptively tough,if you push it.
There are a few very short ups & downs between there and Bunbary, but the start and finish are pan flat. There is good 10 mile flat warm up before a Chapel lane.

About the Calorie Calculator

Our Calorie Calculator estimates how many Calories you will burn using Metabolic Equivalent (MET) values from Compendium of Physical Activities. The Compendium idenitifes the relative energy cost of undertaking various activities compared with doing nothing. We then combine this with your weight and the estimated duration of the activity, taking into account the length of the route and the hills involved, to estimate the total Calories burned.

When selecting an Activity setting, select the speed you would normally travel at on flat ground.

Please remember, the estimated number of Calories is just a guide and the actual number of Calories burned may vary depending on other factors such as weather and terrain.
