If I use the star sync feature for a route that contains directions meant as Up Ahea points - they sync to Connect and the Watch with the name replaced with the type.
So if I have a point marked as a Summit named Pen Y Fan, if I do the fit file to NewFiles method it works fine. But if I use the sync option it becomes named as Summit
Second bug
If I copy the route as a FIT file and manually upload it to my watch - the Up Ahead works fine UNLESS there's a turn arrow associated with the custom direction - the watch then either doesn't show it as a Up Ahead point or calls it something like "50M:Turn" with no Icon
Actually I ralised the second one is probably by design after looking at the image posted that links Up Ahead points to Garmin ones - it shows that turn arow tagged ones dont show in UA!
Hi Adam - the Garmin API doesn't enable us to send coursepoints with turn arrows, so custom directions cannot be transferred using the Garmin Sync feature I'm afraid.
Thanks. I suspected as much from my tinkerings....
Do you know if there's any progress on the other issue, or is it just me
i.e Syncing a route with Up Ahead points (or, custom directions without turn arrows really) via the Premium Sync results in renaming
So if I tag a point as Mountain and name it "Sugar Loaf", after a sync to connect it becomes a Summit point as it should, but the name becomes "Mountain"
Did you add Sugar Loaf as a label or part of the directions text? You'll need to add it as a label for it to be used as the Coursepoint name with the Gamrin Sync, as Gamrin replaces any directions with its own, so we don't send the directions text.
That explains a lot - will test it now!
Dear Plotaroute Admin.
I love you!
Joking aside, brilliant - works like a bloody charm!
This is exactly why I recommend PAR Premium to everyone!
Thanks!
I'll mention this here even though it looks like a Connect problem. Sync'ed routes show zero ascent/descent even though the elevation profile is correct and Climb Pro and the ascent graph on the watch work. Just in case someone else mentions this
