That sounds like a very sensible and worthwhile suggestion. I'd secon it if I could see it in the Feature Request!

Thanks for putting forward this suggestion Geoff. Our Feature Requests list is already very long, so realistically it’s probably not something we can do in the near future, but we can bear it in mind if an opportunity arises.

Would it be possible to provide the option to overlay a grid on the print so we can use printouts with a compass successfully.

Many OSM maps don't have any grid.

Although I'm a GPS nav fan I take a map and compass on wilder trips to make sure I can navigate if the electronic devices fail. eg A nearby military exercise could scramble all the GNSS signals rendering any GNSS receiver useless, a freezing winters day can kill older batteries shockingly early etc.
