okay thanks. Lets hope it's something that can be done sometime.
Thanks for that feedback Oliver. It's worth bearing in mind that an interactive map uses more resources than a static map, so it may have more of an impact on your page loading times and consequently your website's Google rankings. That's why our approach is to display a static map initially, as it's more lightweight. Also, we find that people often visit a page to look at other content rather than the map, so it can sometimes be wasteful to load a fully interactive map - our stats show that around 8% of people interact with embedded maps, so the rest are likely to be visiting the page in search of other information. We may be able to offer both options at some point in the future though - it's certainly something we can consider, so thanks again for the feedback.
If you look here - https://audaxwales.com/events/mendip-flip-flop-century-ride/
and scroll to the bottom you will see it working correctly with RWGPS showing the profile as soon as the page loads
Thats a shame - as it works when you do it with RWGPS as an embedded on my website. You see the profile straight away as sonn as my website page loads up and can scroll along it no issue.
Having the profile as an image isn't going to work for me.
On this occassion I'll have to import into rwgps and use their embedded option for my website maps.
My website is down at the moment - so I can't show you - but I am sure you could test if you like
Thanks.
There isn't any way do do this on the embedded map, but if you want to show a route's elevation profile on your web page the best way to do this is to add it to the page as an image. Se our guide for how to download an elevation profile image that you can use on your website.
Thats great.
The issue is when the embedded code is put into my website - the map without the profile is shown - it's only when you click play on the embedded map for my does the profile then appear.
The same happens if you click preview when you are on Plotaroute embedded share link area.
So it seems to be setup that way
Is there a way to get the profile shown with the map automatically without having to click play on the map when its an embedded code on a website.
Thanks,
Oliver
Hi Oliver - I'm pleased to say you can already do this. See step 6 in our guide on How To Embed a Map on your Website or Blog
If I do view route and select Hills I can scroll along the hill profile and see where I am on the map above.
Great.
However, If I seelct share and embed the rotue on another website I only get the Map and not the hills.
Would be so much more helpful to have both features to be embedded on another website as an option.
Any chance?
Thanks,
Oliver
