As the Christmas holiday season approaches, we thought we'd introduce some festive fun with our new GPS Art Gallery.
If you've not come across it before, GPS Art is the practice of creating routes in the shape of real-world objects. Often people will run, walk or cycle a GPS art route, recording it on a GPS device, but you can also plot it on a map using a route planner like ours. Our advanced route editing tools make plotaroute.com a great choice for planning complex routes like these.
We've added a few routes to the gallery to kick things off, created by renowned GPS artist Nathan Rae. Nathan famously ran a 67-mile heart shaped route around Manchester in the UK, to honour those who lost their lives in the Arena bombing attack in 2017. He's an expert at this and even takes commissions, but we encourage anyone to have a go. To support this, we're giving away a year's free Premium membership for the best new route submitted to our GPS Art Gallery each month. We'll be judging entries on creativity and originality but it's largely for fun, so anything that makes people smile is great!
Head over to our GPS Art Gallery for some inspiration and to submit your own creation - you can find it under the navigation menus.
