Hi,
The Plot A Radius Map function is great. However, there is a limit of 12 miles of distance and 60 minutes of time. Can these please be increased? I am wanting to plot routes that go over 90 miles as the crow flies. There is an ultra marathon race 'Escape From Meriden' and the distances are 30, 60 and 90 miles. If the Plot A Radius Map functionality could include these distances, maybe a slider from 0.5 to 100 miles, it would certainly make route choices so much easier.
What do you think?
Hi Chris,
It takes a lot of processing power to generate isochrone radius maps and this increases exponentially as the radius distance gets bigger, so that's why we've had to put limits on it. We'll have a look to see what scope there is to increase it, but I doubt we'd be able to go near 90 miles. For now we've increased the maximum distance from 20km to 30km and we'll review after a while to see if we can increase it further.
Hi, thank you for the reply.
Froman isochrone perspective I understand the exponential increase in computation that is required. The number of potential connected routes, elevations and times on different surfaces etc. will increase the further away from the start point. Could you separately populate the distances/times drop-down based on isochrone/radius selection? This way there is a greater selection of radii for radius vs isochrone. Clearly a brief explanation on the difference will be required for the user. The radius selection is only generating a circle unlike computing distances/times on potential routes for an isochrone.
Cheers for now [thumbs-up] [smiley-face]
Yes, that's certainly something we can consider, but that would involve development work so isn't something we can do quickly I'm afraid.
Nice and thank you for the consideration.. 🙂
At the other end of the scale, can I suggest a half-mile option?
Thanks, we'll put it on the list Martyn. In the meantime, you can get smaller radius maps by choosing Time instead of Distance, as the Time options start at 5 minutes.
