Auto plot using waterways like rivers and canals would be super-useful when trying to plot canoe/kayak routes.
It's a great tool so I'm not disposed to complain about it just because my preferred activity is not listed - but do feel that the whole category of water is conspicuous by it's absence! Maybe at some point you could consider adapting the user interface to accommodate a richer set of activities! I'm sure if you get enough routes created as watersports you'll consider it - which seems democratic enough. In the meantime - thank you for your response and for providing such an excellent resource. I assume that paying for the add-free version directly contributes to the development, maintenance and upkeep of the site? If so, I'll probably pay IF I keep finding it as useful as it seems now!
Unfortunatley it's not an easy job to add extra activities, mainly due to the design of the user interface and database - I'm afraid these things always seem easier than they are! We did add separate classifications for horse-riding and motorcycling a little while ago but made the decision at the time to draw the line there, as we didn't want to complicate the user interface more with options that weren't relevant for the majoroity of users. If an opportunity comes up to review this though, we'll certainly see what we can do.

I use this for planning canoe paddling routes - at the very least - add Canoe/Kayak to the list of activities alongside run / cycle etc.
Yes, this would be great. its possible for UK canals and rivers that the open data from Canals and River Trust would help ?

thanks
Hi Mike - thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure if the routing data is available to do this but I've added it to our Feature Requests list, where people can vote for this if they are interested in it.

Would it be possible to add the facility to use waterways for boaters and canal users?
