Hi Ted - I'm glad you like the site, thnaks for the feedback.

The Reduce Points feature is automatically applied to routes with more than 20,000 points but is optional for all routes with 3,000 points or more, so you should be able to save your routes without needing to use this if they have less than 20,000 points.  Reducing the number of points will however, make the route load more quickly.

    Actually,

without any point reduction and comparing the file sizes between those created on BRT with PAR, a 120 km route created on PAR is only about 100 kb larger.

The PAR route is showing 3500 points and won't reduce futher.

I don't know if you limit the size of individual accounts, but that is not a problem for me.

    Dear John

I have been searching for ages to find a routing tool to replace Bikeroutetoaster (now sadly died).

I found PAR only a few days ago by accident and I am very impressed by the fuctionality, it looks an excellent editor and very well thought out.

We are a cycle tour company and operate all over Europe. The tours can involve big ride days of up to 160 km and some days beyond. The team leaders all use Garmins, 705-800 etc.

I have played around with a few of our route days in PAR but always seem to invoke the "reduce points" suggestion when I come to save.

On the 3 routes I have tried, there are a few minutes wait until the action is complete.

So I guess what I am suggesting is some form of dynamic "auto points optimisation" i.e optimising as the route build progresses.

I appreciate it is difficult to design an editor that suits all oudoor activities, and the wait is not the end of the world - but it would be a great feature when we come to planning new territories later this summer.

I am in the process of writng a macro to extract the 2000+ routes we have saved with BRT before it vanishes completely. I will then write another to upload them to PAR.

PAR seems to be just what we have been looking for. Great work!

    Best wishes

    Ted
