Thanks John, fully appreciate what you are saying, will leave it with you to consider what might be practical, without being too resource intensive.
I'll be doing another 50 miler in just under 5 weeks time, so if you do have the opportunity to make any changes by then, I'll be able to give them a field test for you.
Thanks for your feedback Ian - that's really useful. It's hard to know these things without it being used for real.
Some of these things are a bit beyond the scope of the current challenge tracker though, as it's really intended for multi-day challenges where you stop for breaks, rather than things like races. To do real-time tracking of events with few or no stops, would require an app and possibly more processing power at the back end to handle all the position updates. So, this is a much bigger project, although something that might be considered in the future.
I think we could probably find a way of avoiding the need to re-login each time you want to update your position though. The auto-sharing via social media may be a bit more tricky but I'll have a look into it. There are social sharing buttons on the desktop version of the challenge tracker page but it looks like they're mising from the mobile version, so I'll add these for starters and maybe link to these when you do a position update.
Thanks again for the feedback Ian and well done on completing your challenge.
John
Hi John, I used the challenge tracker at the weekend as a way of updating my progress so my crew could see my position on the course. While it was really useful, I'd like to sugest a couple of possible enhancements for you to consider, based on my experience of using it 'in the field'
I know these might seem like small things, after all it's only a couple of clicks saved, but after running all day, the little things do make a big difference!
Many thanks
Ian
