Thanks very much, I will give that a go.
The easiest way to split a route is to use the "Delete Homestretch" feature under the Plot menu to shorten it and then click "Save As New Route" when you come to save the shortened version. You'll need to repeat the process for each section you want to save separately.

I want to split our 500mile route up to 6 distinct, downloadable rides. How can I do that please?
Thanks
Thanks for the kind feedback about the site - glad you're enjoying using it.
You should get a warning message while you're plotting the route when you get near the route size limit.

Thanks for your prompt reply John.
I am really enjoying using plotaroute. A wonderful interface - very easy.
Is there any way for me to know went I am nearing the the data storage limit?
I am all ready using the "Reduce Points" feature and will look at deleting the directions if I go over the limit.
Many thanks
Charlie
There is no maximum distance but there is a limit on the size of a route (in data storage terms). Large routes take up a lot of space and can be slow to load, so that's why we have a limit. However, when you come to save your route you can use the "Reduce Points" option to minimise the size of the route, so I would recommend doing this if you have a very large route. You can also reduce the size of the route by deleting the directions if you don't need them (or turning off the "Automatically Add Directions" option in the Settings before plotting the route.

What is the maximum distance I can have on a route? I would like to plot a cycling tour route of about 2000km. Is that possible without splitting it? I don't want to split it as then I can't print an overview map of the route.
