Following some recent changes by Google to the design of the control buttons on its maps, we have made a few amendments to the design of our own mapping tools to bring them in line with Google's changes. We have also introduced new tooltips on our route planner, fixed one or two design issues that were preventing the route planner and route pages from displaying properly on lower resolution desktop screens and have made some tweaks behind the scenes aimed at loading mapping features more quickly.
As part of these changes we have also reluctantly had to discontinue the 3D Maps option that was previously available when viewing routes. Sadly, Google has decided to discontinue the plugin used to make Google Earth available in browsers, following a general trend to move away from browser plugins. As soon as Google releases a replacement solution for 3D maps on web pages we will look at making this available. In the meantime you still still view routes in 3D in the free Google Earth software by downloading them as KML files.
