I've created a route and I'm unable to load it to a Garmin 510.

If I use the Download to Garmin function it doesn't work.

I've tried to download it as a .gpx and a .tcx file and load manually to the Garmin but they don't appear in the Courses folder.

I have downloaded the exact same route created on Ride With GPS and managed to load succesfully usng the manual method but for some reason the same route from here doesn't seem to work.

    Any ideas?

Hi Kev - Is this happening with one route in particular or all of your routes?

i've had that problem before. think I uploaded to 3rd party (think was strava), which then updated garmin. Pain that doesn't do it straight from a dowloaded plotaroute gpx etc file. This is Garmins fault as other apps can use...

Some devices and apps are more fussy than others about the format and content of GPX files.  We'll do some more testing to see if we can identify the problem but if anyone can let us know of a particular route where this happens that would be helpful as it might be something like a special character in the directions/notes that is throwing it out.

Hello, I'm new to this very nice tool, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I think I experience the same kind of issue with one of my routes: When I download https://www.plotaroute.com/route/157768  as a TCX or GPX it seems the file is corrupted as it does not work on my Garmin, and when I try to ire-import it into plot my route as a test it fails with error message “unable to read file”

I tried to import it in other web sites where you can upload TCX or GPX and had the same result, with error message like “this file does not contain any coordinates”. I looked at the file and it does look like the other ones.

This does not happen with all the routes : I’m planning a 3 day trip and the other routes work. For example https://www.plotaroute.com/route/157771.

Am I doing something wrong ?

    Kind regards from France

Thanks for flagging this up Pierre.  I think I've found the cause of the problem, which was an unprintable character in the text of some of the directions.  I'm not sure how it got there but I've put in a fix to remove from the downloaded file, so hopefully it should work OK now but please post back if it doesn't

    It works thank you!

I'm really impressed by the speed at which you fixed that issue. The wrong character may be coming from the creator of the track, not from plotaroute: to create this track I upploaded an existing GPX track from the site of the race I will run, and I cut it into three pieces for each of the days of the race. This was the first part. The other pieces were OK.
